Sunday, May 18, 2008 – JOE KOTLOWSKI AND THE CELLCOM GREEN BAY MARATHON Joe Kotlowski wanted a unique way to show his support for his mom who has suffered with fibromyalgia for more than 10 years. “She has shown great courage in dealing with the disease,” and Joe knows he’s going to have to draw on a small piece of that courage to complete the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon on May 18, 2008 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Joe is reaching out to his friends, family and professional acquaintances to sponsor him for every mile he runs with the donations going to the National Fibromyalgia Research Association. If you’re interested in learning more about the marathon, go to www.cellcomgreenbaymarathon.com. To use your credit card to sponsor Joe, click on Donations. Artwork will show different facets of the human figure either at peace or struggling with physical/emotional difficulties. The show is sponsored by Trisha Cardillo, Disability Assistance. Emerge Art Management represents all the artists involved in the exhibition. Janessa Dauberman, from Emerge Art and who has suffered with fibromyalgia since she was 17, was inspired and appalled to hear the stories Trisha told about her clients. Janessa and Trisha joined together to create this exhibition to show the amazing things one can accomplish, even with a debilitating disability. “I use my art to express the evolving feelings of being in constant battle with my body, and I think that is something everyone can relate to on some level,” says Ms. Dauberman. Events in the month-long exhibition include: October 5, 2007 (Friday) Opening gala from 7-10 pm. There will be hors d’oeuvres, wine and classical music. Short presentations by Trisha Cardillo, Janessa Dauberman and others will further explain the objectives of the show and the relationship to fibromyalgia. October 27, 2007 (Saturday) 4:00 pm. A panel discussion at the gallery. Open forum to discuss how artists approach different themes, feelings on figurative art and the issues that go along with it (nudity, beauty, movement, etc).
